Alien
This winner of a photo was created with human sweat, a bit of pluck and some conventional photographic film. But it was also assisted by the computer. Esther was on assignment to produce a major feature on funnelweb spiders when she came across the book Funnelweb! by Richard Ryan.
In the genre of B-grade movies, Ryan wrote about nuclear-affected spiders growing to enormous proportions. They soon took control of Sydney, torturing and eating its inhabitants. The book was so fascinating that the movie rights were purchased by New Regency Productions.
But don’t wait for the movie—magazines and newspapers can buy the pic right now!
