Herbs, the Modern Medicines
Herbs were the only form of medicine for hundreds, perhaps even thousands of years. Egyptians, Romans, Chinese and Indians—even the monks and witches of the Middle Ages—all had their systems of healing based on herbs. Then in the last hundred years or so synthetic chemicals substances replaced all that tradition. But lately, as people are less and less tolerant of the side effects of wonder drugs, there is a return to the gentle, effective herbal remedies. And not only are they much cheaper, but they look pretty in the garden too!
