Botany—or Anatomy?

Close up photography of flowers reveals beautiful shapes, patterns and colours. At first glance at these flowing, graceful curves or the lumpy, bumpy shapes gives the viewer a moment of unrest. There is something strangely familiar about them...

A closer look allows the viewer a sigh of relief: they are not looking at pornography after all. Yet the mistake can easily be made for the close up inspection of flower parts, such as petals, styles, stamens, nectar, etc. makes one think of the human body—especially the more private parts.

This series of photos would make an excellent photo essay requiring minimal words. (However, the photos really have to be viewed larger to appreciate the full effect.) You can make an enquiry via the Contact page.
