Wombat
While its cousin the Koala lives high in the topmost branches, the wombat lives at the other end of the tree, snugly tucked beneath its roots. Cute and cuddly as baby bear, it nevertheless deserves respect during a chance encounter.
Wombats are so cute you want to hug them. They were made to be stuffed toys with their furry-bear shape, fat wobbly bums and little black eyes set in pudgy cheeks. Visitors to Australia can see them in many zoos and animals parks, snoozing the day away in front of their log homes or snuffling around their enclosures, big brown noses mine-sweeping in all directions.
What would you do if you encountered one in the wild? Would you trust an animal that weighed 30 kilos with muscles more solid than Mike Tyson’s?
