Life in the Tall Eucalypt Forests
#10 Boobook Owl
Different animals rely on Mountain Ash to different degrees. The Boobook Owl lives throughout southern Australia but is most common in older stands of Mountain Ash. It is the smallest species of owl in Australia and its diet consists mainly of insects, but it also may capture small mammals. Its classic ‘mow-poke’ call is often heard throughout the night.
