Life in the Tall Eucalypt Forests
#27 Understorey in Fog
Mountain Ash trees are rich sources of food. Yellow-bellied Gliders and Sugar Gliders extract sap by gouging the smooth trunks, while Leadbeater’s Possums forage among the bark streamers for insects and spiders. Forests made up of different aged trees with a good understorey support the highest diversity—up to eight species—of possums and gliders.
